Northern Mallorca in our opinion has some of the most beautiful and whitest beaches on the island (such as Playa Formentor). This is the perfect area for sport lovers, as many of the beaches themselves offer windsurfing, kayaking, stand up paddle and wakeboarding.
Another reason why we love this part of the island are the hiking opportunities: most areas are still so untouched and so beautiful to explore. Expect to come across stunning views and country lanes.
This is also an ideal area for cyclists and birdwatchers.
Some of our favourite beaches are:
- Cala Formentor: The drive to the beach alone is very impressive. This is definitely one of our favourites on the island because of it’s surrounding mountain views, crystal clear waters and not forgetting the beautiful white sand.
- Playa de Muro with it’s white sand, a great selection of bars and restaurants and it also offers a good range of water sports.
- Sa Calobra: A bit of a difficult beach to access, but the end result is definitely worth it.
- S’illot beach: which means a “small island”. This is a great beach for snorkelling and scuba divers thanks to it’s clear waters. A very unknown, but breathtaking beach.
This part of the island does tend to get a lot quieter during the winter months, but even so, the beaches, the crystal clear waters and the beautiful mountains make up for it.
